The Universe at your Fingertips with Kielder Observatory
WITH Dan Pye & Adam Shore
"Join us as we adventure into the night sky digitally with a tour of the constellations, and objects you can observe from your back garden. Starting with the basic questions, what is a star? Before moving into some astronomical history, and the importance of using constellations to navigate the skies and even our planet. And if it’s clear weather, take us outside and discover the night sky live!"
Dan and Adam are part of the Kielder Observatory Science Team, based from our unique dark sky location in Northumberland. Dan is a practical astronomer who has been observing the skies since he was a child and is currently still studying Astronomy and Planetary Sciences, his favourite thing to talk about is meteorites and how they tell us more about the formation of the solar system. Adam has a degree in Astrophysics from the University of York, and specialises in our educational outreach program, inspiring kids across the North East to seek careers in STEM related subjects. His favourite thing to talk about is the Moon and the various missions which have taken astronauts to the lunar surface, both past and soon to be future with the prospects of the Lunar Gateway.
