Matthew Smiles- PhD student at the University of Liverpool

Matthew is a third year PhD student at the University of Liverpool based in the Stephenson Institute for Renewable Energy. Matthew's job is to research new materials that could have applications in solar energy.

It is becoming more and more common to see solar panels on buildings, in fields and even on your calculator. Much of todays huge solar industry started in space applications decades ago. This talk will try to teach you more about the history of solar in space, how solar in space has changed now and how it launched a huge industry down on Earth.
