The teachers and pupils are all members of Ogden Trust partnerships who have been working with Space Camp UK and Durham University.
Brief description of session:
These amazing Ogden Trust partnership primary schools have been running Space Camps for the last two years. The pupils investigate space using interactive, cross-curricular activities and spend a night investigating the Universe with their classmates and astronomers from local groups and Durham University.
Victoria Lane Academy
Children from Victoria Lane Academy in Coundon demonstrate a hands on, active learning task designed to help them learn about the planets of the solar system through a meaningful and memorable learning experience. This activity is popular with the children and forms part of our residential Space Camp program.
St Matthew’s Catholic Primary School – Solar system in my pocket
St Matthew’s Year 6 Space Scientists demonstrate an engaging and simple practical activity to create a mini solar system. Using till roll and stickers, the children produce a fantastic resource to help pupils understand the relative distances between planets. A great activity for the KS2 Earth and Space topic as well as astronomy sessions or Space Camp.
